HISTORY CIRCLE

Thursday 12 May at 2.00pm

Speaker: Professor Marilyn Lake DLitt, FAHA, FASSA, AO

Subject: How the friendship between Melburnian Vida Goldstein and Bostonian Maud Wood Park shaped feminist political strategies in both their countries. In this, the 120th anniversary year of the passing of the Federal Franchise Act in 1902, we look forward to Professor Lake enlightening us about the little-known exchange of ideas between Vida Goldstein in Australia and Maud Wood Park (who visited Australia in 1909), on the best ways for women to exercise their new power as enfranchised citizens. You are welcome to join us for lunch prior to the presentation.

$43.50 for optional 1-course lunch with wine.

Convenors: Anne Thompson and Anne Gibbs
