SUMMARY:COMBINED CLUB/ART CIRCLE LUNCH
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 11 March 11.45am for 12noon\nSpeaker: Maggie Finch, Curator Photography, NGV\nSubject: Women Photographers 1900 – 1975\nMaggie Finch, curator of NGV’s Women Photographers 1900 – 1975: A Legacy of Light will speak about this marvellous exhibition currently at the NGV. The show begins with the early development of photography coinciding with early feminism and the notion of the ‘new woman’ and ends with the UN Year of Women in 1975. Early photography in Melbourne is linked to the Lyceum Club. Several members like Ruth Hollick and Dorothy Izard established successful businesses in the first decades of last century. Frequent visitors to the Club included the Moore sisters, also early photographers in Collins Street. Maggie will cover the contribution of these women alongside their many international counterparts.\n$95.00 for two course lunch with wine.\n
