DESCRIPTION:Tuesday 3 March at 6.00pm for 6.30pm start\nSpeaker: Professor Kate Fitz-Gibbon\nSubject: A National Crisis We Can Prevent: Australia’s Path to Ending Violence Against Women and Children\nWith a personal connection to the killing of Julie Ramage, and the subsequent conviction of her estranged husband for the lesser crime of manslaughter on the basis of the partial defence of provocation, Kate Fitz-Gibbon’s career trajectory has been shaped by a drive to improve responses to, and the prevention of men’s violence against women.\nProfessor Kate Fitz-Gibbon is a globally recognised expert in system responses to and the prevention of violence against women and children. She is Professor (Practice) at Monash University’s Faculty of Business and Economics, as well as Honorary Professorial Fellow at Melbourne Law School. She has a PhD in Criminology and a Masters of Human Rights Law. In 2024 Kate was named a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader in recognition of her work addressing violence against women and children.\nKate is Chair of Respect Victoria and a member of the Victorian Children’s Council.\n$125.00 three course dinner with wine.\n
