DESCRIPTION:Tuesday 10 March at 6.00pm\nSpeaker: Dr Kelvin Wong, clinical psychologist and Senior Lecturer, Swinburne University of Technology\nSubject: Can animals assist people with psychological issues?\nThe relationship between humans and animals has been of interest for some time but more so in recent years where it is being explored in the context of ways that people / animal relationships can be employed to help people.\nAnimal Assisted Therapies are the purposeful integration of an animal into interventions for psychological problems. As an emerging field, we know very little about how it might work and for whom it might work best. Dr Wong will first provide an overview of the current research and then explore the exciting directions that it is heading, including results from a pilot study conducted at the Swinburne Psychology Clinic.\n$70.00 for optional one course dinner with wine.\n
