A former ABC News anchor with a 30-year media career, she’s reported from global hotspots and hosted conversations with the nation’s top thinkers. Virginia is the author of Unfinished Revolution: The Feminist Fightback and creator of the podcast BroadTalk. Named 2019 ACT Australian of the Year and appointed a Member of the Order of Australia, she continues to champion women’s rights and public interest journalism.\nIn 1975, the fight was alive. It was the year the United Nations declared International Women’s Year as a marker of progress and aspiration. Fifty years on, Virginia Haussegger shines a light on the feminist revolution in Australia, capturing its spirited momentum from the Women’s Liberation Movement through to our ‘new now’. In her presentation she will highlight the major markers of progress and the public prompts that stirred action and led to Australia’s biggest women’s rally in our history, the March4Justice, in 2021. Importantly Virginia will outline what young women today have learned from their feminist foremothers.\n
