DESCRIPTION:Friday 28 November at 10.30am\nSpeaker: Dr Leonie Bird, Barrister and Anglican Theologian.\nSubject: The Victorian legal reforms arising from the recommendations of the Commonwealth Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and the Victorian Inquiry into the Handling of Child Abuse by Religious and other Non-government organisations.\nIn November 2013, the Family and Community Development Committee of the Victorian Parliament handed down the “Betrayal of Trust” Report. On 15 December 2017, the Commonwealth Royal Commission presented its final report to the detailing the culmination of a five-year inquiry into institutional responses to child sexual abuse and related matters. The Victorian legislative reforms passed in response to both inquiries will be discussed to demonstrate a major change to the church state relationship.\n$15.00 for optional sandwich lunch. \n
