SUMMARY:ART CIRCLE
DESCRIPTION:Thursday 23 October at 2.00pm\nSpeaker: Sheridan Palmer\nLynne Boyd (1953–2022) is known for her exquisite and haunting paintings of solitary figures, fleeting moments and romantic abstraction.\nShe developed an uncanny representation of boats, bridges and seascapes of Port Phillip Bay during the 1980s, when the artist Peter Booth considered her works among the best to emerge from the Victorian College of the Arts. Boyd’s work has affinities with the Australian modernist Clarice Beckett, the surreal expressionist Georgia O’Keefe, and the quiet minimalism of Agnes Martin.\nDr Sheridan Palmer, Art Historian at the University of Melbourne, has recently published an illustrated overview of Boyd’s life and work.\n$60.00 for optional one course lunch with wine.\n
