SUMMARY:PATTIE DEAKIN ORATION DINNER
DESCRIPTION:Friday 10 October at 6.00pm for 6.30pm start \nSpeaker: Professor Clare Scott AM\nSubject: Cracking the code of cancer survival to develop powerful cancer therapeutics and cancer vaccines\nThe Pattie Deakin Lecture, held every two years in honour of the Lyceum Club’s inaugural President, celebrates the achievements and insights of our distinguished members. This year, we are delighted to welcome Professor Clare Scott AM as our guest speaker, bringing her extraordinary expertise and passion to this special occasion.\nProfessor Clare Scott AM is a leading Australian expert in gynaecological cancers, clinical cancer genetics and rare cancers. Chair in Gynaecological Cancer at the University of Melbourne, she is also Laboratory Head at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute and Medical Oncologist at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Women’s Hospital and the Royal Melbourne Hospital. A Member of the Order of Australia and Fellow of the Australian Academies of Science and Health & Medical Sciences, she leads pioneering research into drug resistance and chairs the Australia and New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group (ANZGOG).\nSuper-Survivors are extraordinary individuals who are diagnosed with three or more primary cancers during their lifetime, with the unique ability to beat their cancers, time and time again.\nBy studying Super-Survivors, we have observed this extraordinary survival ability across more than 220 cancer types, including blood cancers. We have identified four biomarkers which we believe provide Super-Survivor immune systems with a unique way to control cancer, without causing the other health problems seen with today’s immunotherapies.\nWe aim to develop powerful cancer therapeutics that mimic this cancer control and\na pan-cancer vaccine, the holy grail of cancer prevention.\n$125.00 for three course dinner with wine.\n
