DESCRIPTION:Tuesday 19 August at 10.30 for tea and coffee, 11.00am for the talk.\nSpeaker: Dr Andy Hansen\nSubject: Aerial Photography \nFrom balloons, pigeons and kites to drones and satellites: a short history of aerial photography and its applications.\nDr Andy Hansen is an engineering geomorphologist with careers in geotechnical engineering, landslide hazard assessment, and resource exploration. He has worked in many parts of the world, including the UK, Hong Kong and Malaysia as well as across Australia.\nThe talk will take us from the use of early glass plate cameras in hot air balloons, through film cameras carried by kites, pigeons and rockets, as well as aircraft. The development of digital sensors and increased computing power has broadened the range of applications to include environmental and hazard monitoring as well as military deployments.
