Portia was the first Australian woman to enter London’s Royal\nAcademy of the Arts in 1896, controversially wore culottes for a horse ride\nthrough Gippsland’s countryside and exhibited her work throughout\nAustralia. Committed to women’s rights, she was friends with Vida\nGoldstein and Edith Cowan, whose portrait she painted for the Archibald\nPrize. She was a member of the Lyceum Club and travelled widely. Portia\nwas a modern woman of the early twentieth century.\n$60.00 for optional one course lunch with wine.\n
