DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 4 June at 2.00pm\nSpeaker: Genine Wallinga, President of the Ceramics and Glass Circle of Australia\nSubject: Fantasyland: Chinoiserie of the Rococo\nGenine Wallinga  started collecting ceramics when she purchased a charming 19th century teapot in Hong Kong in 1998. Her delight in the small spherical shape led her to start collecting small antique teapots, taking her back to the 18th century British teapot in particular.  She joined the Ceramics and Glass Circle of Australia in 2004, and the Circle’s 2006 exhibition, The Japanese Aesthetic, introduced Genine to early Japanese porcelain.\nThis talk explores the 17th and 18th century European fantasy vision of China and the Orient, engendered by the remarkable images, produce and artefacts that explorers and traders brought back to the west. It looks at the creative impact on European life of some of the great exponents of Rococo Chinoiserie design.\nPlease join us at 12.15pm for optional lunch with our speaker. Talk starts at 2.00pm.\n$50.00 for an optional one course lunch with wine. \n
