DESCRIPTION:Monday 31 August at 6.00pm for 6.30pm\nSubject: Buenos Aires Tango with the TangoMundo Quintet\nAs we arrive at the conclusion the Club’s celebration of Argentina, the Country of the Month, join the TangoMundo Quintet on a musical journey through tradition, innovation and the enduring passion of tango with an especially curated and arranged performance of Astor Piazzolla inspired Tango. Piazzolla created the style known as nuevo tango, a fusion of tango with elements of classical music and jazz.\nTangoMundo Quintet: Co-founders, Tango scholar and composer, Guillermo Anad (Academico correspondiente, National Academy of Tango, Buenos Aires) (music director, arranger and viola) and composer, Faye Bendrups OAM (piano and voice); Melbourne violinist Peter Exton (first violin); and Music Circle members, Sheila Fitzpatrick (second violin) and Stephanie Exton (cello).\n$125.00 for concert and two course dinner with wine.\nBiographies:\nPeter Exton\nPeter has had distinguished careers as both violinist and acoustician in Australia and internationally. He held principal positions with the London Philharmonia, was Concertmaster with West Australian Symphony and Orchestra Victoria, Lecturer in Violin at West Australia Academy of Performing Arts and Director of Studies Australian National Academy of Music, a member of the Petra Quartet and Australian Piano Quartet, a regular soloist with the state symphony orchestras and ABC Classic Fm. As an acoustician Peter has co-designed over 25 major international concert halls and theatres including 15 in China, the Philharmonie de Paris and Hamer Hall renovation.\nStephanie Exton\nStephanie has run parallel careers in music and philanthropy. In music, as a cellist playing with the WASO and TSO, in Orchestra Management with MSO, SSO, WASO and TSO and as a regular chamber music performer and manager. In philanthropy Stephanie is CEO of the Mornington Peninsula Foundation, a place based foundation driving systems reform in education to address intergenerational disadvantage with that work now expanding across the state. \n
