DESCRIPTION:Monday 22 June at 6.30pm\nSpeaker: Professor Denny Oetomo, Co-Director of the Human Robotics Laboratory, Department of Mechanical Engineering, The University of Melbourne.\nSubject: Robot-Human Partnership.\nIn order to be useful assistants, robots need to be able to sense human intent, interpret physical interactions and respond in ways that are intuitive and supportive. This talk will showcase examples where upper-limb prosthetic systems restore and enhance movement through bidirectional interaction and rehabilitation technologies that support patient recovery after injury. It will also describe field applications involving complex movements in dangerous settings such as sheep shearing.
