These include traversing the Messina Straits between Sicily and Italy (location of fabled sea monsters Scylla and Charybdis from The Odyssey) and crossing the Dardanelles from Europe to Asia (near the ancient city of Troy). Closer to home, swims across the Rottnest Channel from Cottesloe to Rottnest Island and The Rip between Portsea and Point Lonsdale will be featured.\nThe talk will describe the historical and cultural significance of these stretches of water and the personal benefits experienced from undertaking these challenges.\n$60.00 for optional one-course lunch with wine at 12:30pm (before the Circle).\n
