DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 20 May at 6.00pm\nSpeaker: Helen Herrman AO MD MBBS BMedSc FRANZCP FAFPHM FFPH and Club member\nSubject: Knowing when to take your time and when to jump in with career decisions\nHelen studied medicine in Sydney and Melbourne in the mid twentieth century when most of her fellow students were young men and took her time to find a career direction. She moved to Oxford in the UK and studied public health, returned to Melbourne with a husband and family and after a while began training in psychiatry.\nCombining these interests and family life has taken her in unexpected directions: working as a clinical and public health academic, as a health service director during mental health reforms, and in international roles. .\nHelen will discuss having the confidence to slow down a bit early (if you want to) while taking bold decisions later.\nFurther ideas are welcome.\n
