DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 20 May at 5.15pm for a 5.30pm start to 6.30pm\nWine appreciation by women for women.\nSpeaker: Iona Baker, Italian Wine Scholar and Victorian Manager, Trembath and Taylor, Italian Wine Importers\nTheme: Italian Red Wines\nThere are 20 wine regions in Italy growing many hundreds of different grape varieties. Some are now grown successfully elsewhere in the world, but the vast majority remain local.\nThe evening we will focus on the mountainous region of Piedmonte, Italy’s second largest wine region, which boasts a long list of native grapes including Arneis, Dolcetto and Barbera and the most important – Nebbiolo.\nIona will guide us through a tasting of the red wines of this fascinating wine region which is also famous for vermouth and white truffles.\nMembers are welcome to invite female guests.\nBooking is essential as the maximum number at each tasting is 30.\nFor the May Wine Circle only, the price of the wine tasting will be $35.00 to cover the cost of the more expensive wines that we will taste.\nOptional à la carte dining will be available following the conclusion of the tasting.\n
