DESCRIPTION:Thursday 14 May at 2.00pm\nSpeaker: Suzanne Hampel OAM\nSubject: Australia’s Response to the Holocaust\nSue Hampel OAM, Monash University educator and Co-President of the Melbourne Holocaust Museum, will examine Australia’s response to events in Nazi Germany and Europe before, during, and after the Second World War. With a focus on Jewish migration, the talk will analyse Australia’s reactions to the rise of Nazism and other developments that shaped refugee policy and public discourse. Drawing on her background in Holocaust studies, Sue considers the historical and ethical implications of Australia’s response and the role of remembrance and education in fostering tolerance and confronting prejudice in contemporary society.\n$60.00 for an optional one course lunch with wine at 12.30pm.\n
