SUMMARY:RAMBLERS CIRCLE
DESCRIPTION:Thursday 23 April at 8.45am\nStokes Collection, Forest Glade, Mount Macedon\nThe Stokes Collection, set in the beautiful Forest Glade garden, is a world-class collection of antique furniture and art works. It includes the largest private collection of antique porcelain in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the largest collections of its type in the world – more than 6,500 individual pieces. Throughout its sixteen rooms the Stokes Collection is a spectacular display of predominantly 18th and 19th Century porcelain, French furniture, including many fine Boulle pieces, large tapestries, paintings, marble & bronze statues and a magnificent collection of Oriental art.\nOn this ramble, we will meet at Southern Cross Station at the end of platform 2A at 8.45am in time to catch the 9.01am Bendigo line train to Macedon. Arriving at 9.56am, a mini bus will take us to Mount Macedon where we will enjoy a 2.5 hour guided tour of the Stokes Collection. There will be a short time afterwards to explore the magnificent Forest Glade garden in all its autumn splendour before returning to the Macedon Hotel for lunch. We will then catch the train back to Melbourne arriving at approximately 4.30pm.\nCost: $65.00-$75.00 (depending on number of participants) for guided tour, garden entry and mini bus charged to your account. Train – use myki ticket. Lunch at own cost.\nConvenors: Helen Gibson, Pam Hammond and Andrea Westh\n
