DESCRIPTION:Tuesday 14 April at 6.00pm, dinner 7.00pm\nSpeaker: Professor Jason Howitt, Faculty of Health Sciences, Swinburne University of Technology\nSubject: Parkinson’s disease, causes, treatments and potential therapies.\nA revolution has occurred in our understanding of Parkinson’s disease over the past decade, with new research revealing that the disease can start 15-20 years before any symptoms, such as tremor or freezing of gait, are observed. Professor Howitt will discuss the history of Parkinson’s disease research, and outline his labs discoveries for how the disease starts and spreads in the brain. He will also discuss his recent research, funded by the Michael J Fox Foundation, to identify new therapies that are potentially disease modifying for the first time. Questions addressing the impact of this diagnosis on families are welcome.\n$70.00 optional one course dinner with wine.\n
