She only discovered he was Roy from a large mining family in the Rhondda shortly after he died in 1994. Thirty years later, Belinda unearthed a war-hero father who continued to work for British Intelligence as his children growing up, and who had a French war-time daughter about whom he never knew. Do such secrets matter? And is it possible to understand why Roy became Bill and erased his past? How much do we know about our parents?\n
