DESCRIPTION:Friday 27 March at 10.00am\nWilliamstown – ferry and guided walk\nWilliamstown was Melbourne’s first seaport. Founded in 1837, it served as the critical gateway for trade, immigration, and defence during the Victorian gold rush. Today, it is recognised for its well-preserved 19th-century streetscapes, maritime heritage, and as a popular tourist destination offering, panoramic views of the Melbourne CBD skyline.\nOn this ramble we will take the ferry from Southbank, down the lower reaches of the Yarra River to Williamstown, arriving at Gem Pier at approximately 11.30am. There will then be time for lunch and to explore the Nelson Place and maritime precincts if you wish before joining a guided walk of the historic seaport at 1.15pm. The tour will conclude at approximately 2.30pm when we will head to the Williamstown Station to take the train back to Melbourne.\nThe ferry leaves from Berth 2, Southbank Promenade, Southbank at 10.30am. Berth 2 is located just east of the Evan Walker pedestrian bridge on Southbank. We must check in at the Ticket Kiosk at least 20minutes before departure. Preferably purchase your one-way ticket online beforehand at https://www.melbcruises.com.au/williamstown-ferry/cruise-c-city-to-williamstown-1-hour-one-way/. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased on the day at the Ticket Kiosk.\nFerry tickets cost $32.00. Guided tour cost is $5.00 per person cash only. Lunch at own cost.\n
